Winston Churchill Signed Invitation to Royal Academy of Arts. PSA Encapsulated.
Signature
Signed invitation, dated May 4, 1956, to the Royal Academy of Arts. The invitation is a Single Admission invite to "All persons who wish to re-enter the Exhibition on the day of the Private View." Boldly signed "W Churchill" in the bottom right corner. Overall, very good condition, and boldly signed. Measuring 4.5" x 6.25", encapsulated by PSA/DNA to an overall size of 6.5" x 10."
In 1947 and 1948, paintings submitted by Churchill to the Royal Academy of Arts were accepted for exhibition in the Academy's annual Summer Exhibition. To avoid any influence his name might exert upon the consideration of his submission, Churchill used the pseudonym "David Winter." After revealing his true name, the Academy awarded Churchill the distinction of "Honorary Academician Extraordinary" in 1948.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
