An envelope signed by former First Lady Helen H. Taft (1861-1943) as "Helen H. Taft - / Free" in the postage section, and additionally inscribed in her hand with the name and address of her recipient as, "Martin Beck Theatre - / 45th West of 8th Avenue - / New York - / N.Y. -." Encapsulated and PSA/DNA graded MINT 9. N.d., n.p. Isolated haloing or ink erosion found in the address, else nearly pristine, the envelope measuring 5.365" x 3.5." The slab measures 7.25" x 4.25."
Helen H. Taft served as First Lady during the 1909-1913 presidency of her husband, 27th U.S. President William H. Taft (1857-1930).
The Martin Beck Theatre, located in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of lower Manhattan, opened in 1924. Today, it is known as the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
