Eckert was an American electrical engineer and computer pioneer, best-known for his role in co-inventing the first general-purpose electronic digital computer in the world, known as ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer). Later, Eckert would develop the UNIVAC I (Universal Automatic Computer I), the first commercially produced computer in the United States. On 8 March 1967, Eckert delivered a speech at the Electronics Seminar Auspices of Blair & Company discussing the development of high-speed computers.
