Description
Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, 1864 to 1901, a limited edition color lithograph on velin paper, a sketch, Lucien Guitry and Jeanne Granier, for the original 1895 china ink wash and watercolor painting of two French actors in the play Amants by Maurice Donnay that was produced at the Theatre de la Renaissance in Paris. Signed with a monogram in the print, lower left. Printed in Paris in 1951 by the atelier Dreux Barry in an edition of 1000. Framed. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec was a French painter, printmaker, draftsman, caricaturist, and illustrator born into the aristocracy in the South of France. In his art, he was preoccupied with the decadents of society, directing his attention toward the late 19th century bohemian lifestyle in Paris. Lautrec is considered a precursor of Expressionism, often viewed as a Post Impressionist artist. He remains to this day an influential figure in advertising and book illustration.
