*Local Interest - Jennifer Wheten (1941-2021, British), acrylic on board, 'Cautley Spout, The Howgills, near Sedbergh', bold and vibrant use of colour to create an attractive image, signed to the lower right, framed, measuring 40cm x 50cm overall. Note - Jennifer Wheten was born in Cardiff, and moved to Dentdale in 1999, then Sedbergh a few years after. She is a self taught artist who worked mainly in pastels, acrylic, and mixed media, as well as experimenting with intaglio and relief printmaking. She was inspired by the local landscape, with ever changing colours and moods, and loved to use colour in a lively way to express her feelings about it. Other favourite subjects were trees, rocks, rivers, flowers, and the coast of South and West Wales. She also produced works inspired by Venice and painting holidays in Northumberland. She was a member of the Sedbergh and Lake District Art Society, and exhibited at their annual exhibitions as well as selling via The Gallery, Sedbergh. Jennifer additionally exhibited at Milnthorpe Open Exhibition and Cumbrian Artists Open Exhibition at the Upfront Gallery, and at The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal.
