People's Artist of Ukraine, Honored Artist of the Ukaine - KOKIN Mikhail (1921-2009) entered the history of Ukrainian art as an outstanding master of landscape, still life and portraiture.

The artist drew his skills from the classical school of painting, but created paintings in his own, already recognizable style. Kokin's main feature is to make the viewer fall in love with the subject and pay attention to the details that surround us every day. Kokin Mikhail is a war veteran and to distract himself from the horrors of the lived moments he found his distraction in the beauty of nature. "It's everywhere, you just have to look at it."

So Kokin Mikhail managed to create unique canvases that inspire the viewer with the majestic beauty and gracefulness of the strokes of a talented artist.

KOKIN Mikhail was born in 1921 in Dnipro, Ukraine (formerly Dnipropetrovsk), in the family of a worker. Since childhood, he showed an interest in drawing.

Mikhail Kokin is one of the few who was able to maintain a delicate balance between the requirements of "socialist realism" and lyricism in painting. He was equally successful with portraits of the heroes of developed socialism, and landscapes of his native Dnieper region, and even views of distant Chukotka and Kamchatka.

In 2001 he was awarded the honorary title "People's Artist of Ukraine". His last lifetime solo exhibition was held in 2007 at the Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum.

Mikhail Kokin's works are kept in many museums of Ukraine and abroad. These are Dnepropetrovsk art museum, Pavlograd local history museum, museum in Petrikivka, Donetsk, Nikolaev, Zhitomir, Korsun-Shevchenko, Kherson, Kakhovka local history museums, as well as private collections around the world.
