During this period, he is actively experimenting with photography. The main subjects were household non-stop still lifes of objects, later a combination of objects and bodies, in the layout of which the artist used the “voidness” and asymmetry characteristic of the Eastern tradition [3]. A group of artists little known in the official art environment of the Union of Artists and not related to the unofficial “non-conformist” group, held two major resonant exhibitions on the territory of a state institution - the Odessa Art Museum. Large formats, themes and subjects of works laid the foundation for a new trend in the visual arts of Odessa. Effective support appeared among the urban intelligentsia, journalists, and young entrepreneurs who created and maintained the first Tirs Center for Contemporary Art in Odessa [3].
In 1996, Vasily Ryabchenko founds the creative association Art Laboratory. In the same year he received the award and the title "Best Artist of Ukraine" following the results of the first Kiev All-Ukrainian Art Festival "Golden Peretin".
