Description
Modelled in the form of a small gaggle of circling geese, several of which have eyes inlaid with gold wire, dark olive-brown patina, underside with an inset square for a maker's plaque, now lost.
H: 17 in.; Dia: 21 in.

Thence by descent to the present owner, Property from a private Virgina collection
Robert Schmidt-Hamburg was a German artist best known today for his Marine portraits and atmospheric landscapes. He travelled widely throughout the world pursuing subjects and commissions, both private and for major shipping concerns. It is likely that the present work was acquired during these travels.
