Carte 95, 1 bianca. Frontespizio racchiuso entro cornice xilografica con elementi fitomorfi e uccelli. Colophon a carta 95. Annotazione di mano antica alla prima carta. Alla terza carta nota di possesso coeva di G. Giacomo Bosso. Difetti alla legatura, internamente lievi tracce uso, qualche macchietta, esemplare genuino. Frontespizio entro cornice xilografica con colonne, putti e altre decorazioni. Capilettera xilografiche su fondo criblé. Taglio a carta B4. Buona conservazione. Magnifica legatura veneziana della seconda metà del secolo XVI, eseguita a Venezia, del genere "aldino". L'impianto ornamentale ricorda le legature eseguite a Venezia dal legatore Andrea di Lorenzo, attivo tra il 1520 ed il 1550 ca. Hobson: "L'aspetto della Fortuna che i legatori italiani amano far risaltare è la fuggevolezza, perciò la mettono sul dorso di un delfino, simbolo della velocità". Di essa, si conoscono numerose versioni nelle varianti maschile e femminile. In Italia la Fortuna si trova prevalentemente su legature in marocchino bruno o rossiccio, ma anche bianco, della prima metà del XVI secolo, eseguite a Venezia, Padova e Bologna.”Sander 1058. Cfr. In 8vo. 150x100mm. Brown morocco binding gilt and blind tooled. Concentric gold frames, the external one with volute decoration, the internal one with fillet with fleuron at the corners. At the center of the covers, "Fortuna" rides a dolphin and the motto VIRBIAM SERVO. 95 leaves, 1 blank. Title page enclosed within a woodcut frame with plant elements and birds. Colophon on leaf 95. Old hand annotation on first leaf. On the third leaf contemporary note of possession of G. Giacomo Bosso. Defects on the binding, internally slight traces of use, some stains, unsophisticated copy.

Magnificent Venetian binding from the second half of the 16th century, made in Venice, of the "Aldine" type. The ornamental layout recalls the bindings made in Venice by the binder Andrea di Lorenzo1, active between about 1520 and 1550. Hobson: The aspect of Fortune that Italian binders wished to emphasise was fleetingness. They did this by placing her on the back of a dolphin. […] Fortune standing on a dolphin back was a reminder to the reader that opportunity passes in a flash”. Numerous versions of it are known in male and female variants. In Italy the Fortuna is found mainly on bindings in brown or reddish morocco, but also white, from the first half of the 16th century, made in Venice, Padua and Bologna.
