This very rare and unusual fine porcelain plate was hand painted by famous landscape painter John Hugh Plant for Coalport to be presented to the public at the 1893 Chicago Exhibition. This masterpiece features three perches swimming among water plants within a turquoise green border adorned with gilt rim and gilt net, fish, and shell designs. Signed "J.H. Plant". Very good antique condition; no chips, cracks, or repairs; very minor paint loss. Dated 1893, printed green crowned Coalport mark, iron-red hand written theme "Perch", and overprinted gilt Chicago Exhibition mark. Measures approx. 9" in diameter. A masterfully executed and very decorative piece!
