Description

1 large medium 19th century Shakudo button with a horse.
Tin Dang tells us that this Japanese Shakudo button depicts Guan YU, who was a famous Chinese Military General in the Three Kingdoms Era (220 to 280 AD). He is a symbol of Loyalty, Righteousness and Bravery, throughout the entire Asian culture. His horse was considered to be the finest horse in the world. This is an incredible example of Japanese craftsmanship. The detailed Japanese figure is riding a horse and the horses head is as detailed as the figure. Set with inlayed gold accents in relief design. A truly fabulous example. From the collection of the late Shirley Case of Missouri.
