Artist: Okar Kokoscha (1886-1980)Technique: Tempera on paper cast on board.Title: Figures and charactersMeasurements: 61.8 x 50 cm.Private Collection, excellent provenance, Provenance: (Private Collection, upon request.) Biography:Kokoschka was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, son of one of our lives. From 1905 to 1909, he attended courses at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna. One of his professors is Gustav Klimt and one of his colleagues Elsa Oeltjen-Kasimir.In 1910 he moved from Vienna to Berlim, due to Rejeitar or Jugendstil. As of 1912, Kokoschka lives a paixão by Alma Mahler-Werfel. This love and the exchanged letters inspire different works of art. His painting evolved rapidly: he began to work with longer brushes and his colors were more and more. In 1914, he joined the Viennese Secession painters in Berlim.At the beginning of the First World War, a dragoon regiment enlisted. On the battle front, he was wounded and in 1916 admitted to a hospital in Dresden, where he was born in 1923.In 1917, he settled in Dresden where he met Adolf Loos, architect. He became a professor at the Dresden School of Arts from 1919 to 1924.He returned to Vienna in 1933. After the death of his mother, in 1934, he went into exile in Prague for political reasons, he knows Olga Palkovska, who got married.In 1938, due to the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia, he abandoned his study in Moldova and went to London with his wife (1938-53).In 1953, he settled in Villeneuve, Switzerland, where he spent the last 27 years of his life.
