Description
Paper cut work picture of a botanical urn full of flowers. Signed and dated at lower center: E. B. C., 1857. According to Mr. Long's notes, origin is the Eastern Shore, Virginia. Note on back from an earlier owner indicates the piece was bought from Bob Withey, Salisbury Maryland, in 1964. (Likely Robert Withey, well-respected interior designer, antiques collector, dealer, appraiser, and lecturer, and owner of Robert Withey Interiors in Salisbury, Md. ) Chip carved wood frame with lemon gold slip. Frame, approx. 14 1/8" x 12 1/8". Provenance: the estate of John Long, highly regarded Virginia antiques dealer and collector.
