Item Details

Description

One portrait showing a woman in lace cap holding a child in her lap, the child's reaching hand vivid against her dark green dress. The other portrait shows a dark haired man in clerical dress. Both painted on wood panels. The panel on which the woman and child are painted is split vertically in thirds but joined into one panel with early wood reinforcements on the back. Gilt frames, approx 15 7/8" x 14 3/8". Sight approx. 12 7/8" x 11 3/8". Provenance: the estate of John Long, highly regarded Virginia antiques dealer and collector.
