This gorgeous bronze vase shows a woman laying in a relaxed mood holding a flowing sheet above his head as sweet flowers surround her. She reclines in the moons crescent and wears a star on her head. She is “Dusk”, her long hair flows softly as the warm breeze bring the dawn in and makes the skies dark. Her privates are covered with a flowing robe which seems to wrap around her and the vase. The flowers have great intricate detail adding to the dimension of this sculpture. She has great proportion and her muscles are magnificent. This is the perfect gift to give to a flower lover. This sculpture was cast using the “Lost Wax Method” and is handmade. This sculpture is signed Moreau. Auguste Louis Marthurin Moreau French, 1834-1917 Auguste Louis Marthurin Moreau was born in Dijon, Paris on April 23 1855, the youngest son of sculptor and painter Jean-Baptiste Moreau. He studied with his father and also under Aimé Millet, Augustin Drumont and Jean Thomas. Each of the three Moreau brothers – Hippolyte, Marthurin and Auguste – have become renowned for the quality and the beauty of their figurative sculpture. Auguste Moreau worked as a sculptor and specialized in figures, statuettes and groups, mainly in marble. He made his debut at the 1861 Salon in Paris and continued to play an active part in the Salon des Artistes Francais as a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais until 1910.
