Morton Rachofsky was an innovative sculptor with a passion for creating rearrange-able and geometric works of art. As a businessman and inventor, Rachofsky's analytical and mathematical background inspired his approach to sculpture.

Rachofsky received a BBA from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Graduate School of Business. After serving in the United States Army in Korea, Rachofsky began a fifty-year career in real estate that would provide him with an outlet for his interest in architecture and geometric structures. While pursuing his passion for art in Dallas, Rachofsky studied alongside sculptor Octavio Medellin (founder of the Creative Arts Center of Dallas) at the Dallas Museum of Fine Art and later alongside sculptor James Surls at Southern Methodist University. In 1983, Rachofsky was elected the first president of the Texas Sculpture Association, an organization where sculptors can support one another and discuss new methods and techniques.

Rachofsky considered his major artistic influence to be the works of Spanish sculptor Miguel Berrocal. Like Berrocal, Rachofsky was fascinated with mathematics and concept of creating interlocking and rearrange-able works of art. Rachofsky's lifelong interest in puzzles guided his creative process and led to several patents for his inventions such as a three-dimensional puzzle and a 25 hour clock.

Rachofsky began his creative process with a vision of a three-dimensional geometric form. He would then bring his vision into existence by constructing the form out of stainless steel or wood. His work was driven by the question What if? What if I take away the side? What if I flipped it upside down? These questions drove him to create sculptures that reflected his interest in movement and puzzles. He often used the color red in his sculptures to represent action and evolution.

Rachofsky created his sculptures with the intention of allowing them to be continuously rearranged and transformed. His pieces are playful and interactive as he invites viewers to assemble and reassemble his sculptures. By creating forever changing and evolving works of art, our minds open up to the possibility of limitless forms as we experiment with endless variations.

Rachofsky's sculptures have been exhibited at over sixty exhibitions including NorthPark Center, Texas Sculpture Association, D-Art Visual Arts Center, the Harlingen Public Library, and the Trammell Crow Center. His works can be found in numerous public and private collections as well as commissioned installations including Chaparral Steel, Belo Mansion, The Dallas Bar Association, The Legacy at Preston Hollow, CHAI House, and the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art.
