An antefix is an ornament at the eaves of a classical building concealing the ends of the joint tiles of the roof and iterations of the architectural detail can be seen in past cultures, world wide. A near-complete front of a terracotta antefix which features a freakish, gorgoneion head, the portrait itself, complete. Size 7 x 3 x 7½". Provenance: From the collection of Nancy and Earl Keefer.
