Description
Mihaly von Zichy, Russian, Hungarian, 1827 to 1906, hand colored etching on paper depicting an oval double portrait of two Oriental women. Signed and dated 1858 in the plate, lower right. Framed. Mihaly Zichy is known for Romantic genre painting, history, portraits, illustration, court painter. Mihaly Zichy was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist. He was a significant representative of Hungarian romantic painting. During his law studies in Pest from 1842, he attended Jakab Marastonis school as well. In Vienna he was Ferdinand Waldmullers pupil in 1844. Lifeboat, his first major work, comes from this time. Antique European Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
