Description
China, Jiangxi, 960-1279. The globular body rising from a short foot with a recessed base to a broad rim with a thick rolled lip, the neck applied with small circular bosses, covered overall in a smooth russet glaze with areas of iron-rust color as well as amber to the bosses, the glaze stopping irregularly above the foot.
Provenance: K.Y. Art, Hong Kong. A private collection, acquired from the above, and thence by descent. The box with two labels inscribed in Chinese, 'Song dynasty, Ganzhou, jar in form of fish basket' and 'Ge Tingke.' One label from K.Y. Art, Hong Kong.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, traces of use, firing flaws, tiny scratches, minor losses to foot.
