1850s-1860s Framed Japanese Woodblock Diptych Set by Utagawa Kunisada. Size of larger print: apporox. 18" x 14” (with frame: apporox. 25” x 20”). This diptych was created by the famous ukiyo-e artist, Utagawa Kunisada, a,k.a. ”Tokoyuni III” (1786-1864). In this intimate interior scene four Geisha are shown preparing for their daily ceremonies. The artist's seal in cartouche lower right, partially obscured lower left. These prints were published by Joshuya Kinzo during the Edo Period. Censor seal, lower right. Title in cartouche, right corner. Condition: Wear to print center in larger piece. Some toning to paper due to age. Provenance: ex-Willow Auction House; ex-private Tokyo, Japan collection.
