Ancient Old Babylonian, Hematite Cylinder seal, c. 1800-1600 B.C. Professor Lambert Report. Size 25•5 x 13.5 mm.Three standing figures compose the scene. In the middle is a god, in horned tiara and long robe falling in creases, holding down one hand. Facing him is a figure in bare head and short kilt holding up one hand. Behind the central figure is a figure in horned tiara and short kilt, holding up a pole surmounted with a single lionsched. There is also a crescent in the sky. Three fillers are present: a shepherd's crook, the spade of Marduk, and a fly.This is an Old Babylonian seal, c. 1800-1600 B.C. It is cut in a simple style, and is well preserved. Provenance: From the collection of Juliane and Philip Lynch, Shaker Heights, Ohio. This seal comes with a museum quality modern impression and is accompanied by a signed hand written description by W. G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, UK, 1970 - 1993.
