(ABOLITION.) The preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, on the front page of the New York Semi-Weekly Tribune. 8 pages, 21¼ x 16 inches, disbound; minimal wear and foxing; inked subscriber's stamp in upper margin.
New York, 23 September 1862

Printed the day after the proclamation was issued on 22 September. An editorial on page 4 summarizes the proclamation, concluding "It is the beginning of the end of the rebellion; the beginning of the new life of the nation. God bless Abraham Lincoln!"
