Cover gilt VG but spine gilt dulled, covers with light edge wear with light scuffing upper cover and a number of small white spots on lower cover, covers tight, text very clean and color plates near fine, this copy had 14 color plates of fish and 2 color plates of deer and a pheasant. for a total of 16 color plates. Even though the color plate of the Brown Trout on page 62 is lacking there is no indication it was published with this plate and all other listed copies on ABE have 16 or less plates and one complete list omits the brown trout. The color fish plates are: Brook Trout, Atlantic Salmon, White Fish, Small Mouthed Black Bass, Large Mouthed Black Bass, Pike Perch or Wall-Eyed Pike, Mascallonge, Pike, Pickerel from upper Hudson River, Pickerel from a pond in Massachusetts, Shad, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and Smelt. There are also color plates by Denton of the Virginia Deer and the Mongolian or Ring-Necked Pheasant. A very good copy of first edition with near fine color plates.
