Description
Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed faience amulet of Thoth, the ibis-headed god of mathematics and intellect. The turquoise-glaze figure presents in a striding pose while holding both arms firmly against his sides. His lengthy beak extends out past ovoid eyes, and the head is framed with thick headdress lappets. A suspension hole is drilled laterally through the top of the dorsal pillar. Size: 1" L x 0.7" W x 2.95" H (2.5 cm x 1.8 cm x 7.5 cm); 3.85" H (9.8 cm) on included custom stand.
