William Carlaw RSW (1847-1889) was born in Glasgow in 1847. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art and traveled abroad frequently. He is mainly known for his watercolours of marine scenes. Carlaw died in 1889. One of his paintings is hung at the Glasgow Museum Art Gallery
