Dramatic sunset seascape with a launch washed ashore. Signed lower left "J. Hamilton". This piece relates to Hamilton's 1868 work "What are the Wild Waves Saying", currently in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum.

Although the painting presents well under natural light, UV examination reveals some varnish inconsistencies and some paint restorations, primarily at the edges. Craquelure.
