Very large old Gourd vessel with fitted lid from the Tuareg nomads of the Sahara Desert, West Africa. Very Old and well used container with tribal repairs and signs of age and use. pre 1950. Excellent condition for its age. At one time the gourd stem would have served as a handle on the lid. That handle isnt there so hard to get the top off. The body of the gourd is very solid with some crackage and wear around the rim as shown in photos. It appears simple but there is likely more than meets the eye at making one of these, let alone finding gourds this size. It measures about 11" tall and 10" diameter.
