Item Details
Description
2 1/4" Unusual Cotton Rock Celt found in Benton County, Missouri. Southwest Missouri and a little to the north Native Americans didnt have much material for making axes. Although not as durable as granite cotton rock was used. This is a very fine example for the material it is made of. A very light material I have heard people that live where cotton rock occurs floating down the streams when it floods. Tested this one - didnt float. Ex George Wolf Collection. Key words: Ancient, Prehistoric Native American Indian Artifacts, Arroweads, Stone Tools
