This acrobatic gentleman was carved from a solid piece of wood, including the pillow, made in France close to the turn of the century. Generally used in the foyers of well-to-do families, his feet are designed to hold a tray that would offer treats and goodies to guests upon arrival. CONDITION: This particular example is in all original paint, showing some areas of scuffs and scrapes due to handling and age. It does not come with a tray, but its feet are parallel to the ground and would hold a tray of your choosing. PROVENANCE: From the lifelong collection of Bill Howard.
