Description
C. 1896. An early wooden cash register that doubled as a trade stimulator made by the Sun. Mfg. Co. Made primarily for cigar stores, a customer would pay for a cigar and the clerk would open the cash register drawer, a gong would chime, and the clerk would give the customer a steel ball. The customer then dropped the ball in the top of the pin field and would subsequently find its way to one of the holes in the bottom of the pin field. The weight of the ball causes a numbered flag to pop up, awarding 1,2,3 or 5 cigars for your nickel. CONDITION: For being 125 years old, this device is in amazing condition. There is little wear to the oak case, complete pin-field and the steel balls needed to play are included. It has as original celluloid Sun Mfg. tag on the back, and a tag on the front saying professionally restored by Frank Reynolds. It comes with keys. PROVENANCE: From the lifelong collection of Bill Howard. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Very Good) Dimensions: 39" x 19 1/2" x 20"
