Item Details
Description
MAD No. 24 (EC, 1955) First Magazine-Format Issue From the Collection of Bill Elder (Graded 7.0) W/COA - This MAD Magazine #24 was acquired from the collection of American illustrator and comic book artist, Bill Elder, who helped launch Harvey Kurtzman's Mad comic book in 1952. MAD #24 was the first issue in the magazine format that defined the title for more than 60 years. This was also the first appearance of "What? Me worry?" on the cover. The cover logo and border were created by Harvey Kurtzman, and the art by Wally Wood, Jack Davis, Bill Elder, and Bernie Krigstein. Additional info on the MAD Magazine: MAD originally was published as "MAD COMIC". The publishers kept getting into conflicts with the censors, so Volume 24 (the one offered) became the "FIRST ISSUE" of MAD MAGAZINE! The cover shows Issue #24 with red letters saying "FIRST ISSUE". The cover also is a "Letter From The Publisher" with a "Very Special Message" on the inside. That IMPORTANT MESSAGE - Please Buy This Magazine!!! This issue came from the personal collection of Bill Elder and is graded 7.0 by CGC. Includes: certificate of authenticity.
