Lot of 19th century photographs. To include: 1) 1/6 plate daguerreotype of a family holding an open book housed in Union wall frame. Spots on collar and mothers face. Frame with some wear and minor losses on right edge rear. With hanging hooks. 5 x 4.5in. 2) 1/4 plate ambrotype of an attractive woman in black striped dress. Oval wall frame with twisted band border. Good condition. 5 x 4 3/8in. 3) 1/6 plate tintype of 2 young boys wearing fashionable hats. Good condition. 4) 1/6 plate daguerreotype of a boy with lace collar. Velvet pad impressed with southern photographer J.H. Whitehurst galleries, along with a number of locations. Tarnishing to image. 5) 1/2 plate of an elderly man with strong presence. Resealed with new glass in 1997. 6) 1/9 plate daguerreotype of lady in wall frame. Label for James & Co. 25 cent daguerreotype and ambrotype rooms, Boston. ID'd as Eliza Tenny. 7) 1/16 plate Union case "Children at the Gate". Some minor nicks. No image. 8) Early 1840s daguerreotype of a middle aged gentleman in fine clothing. Plate is marked 40 PLUM (cut off). Either supplied or taken by photographer John Plumbe Jr. 9) Overmatted half plate of an attractive young woman dressed in fashionable clothing and short hair. Remounted 1955, inscription on reverse. No case. 10) 2 other images including one in a octagonal Union case. This lot is part of a larger collection of ambrotypes and daguerreotypes also found in this auction.
