Description
JEAN FRANCOIS THEODORE GECHTER (French 1796-1844) A SCULPTURE, "Louis XI et Quentin Durward," 19TH CENTURY, bronze with brown patina, inscribed across the base, "LOUIS XI ET QUENTIN DURWARD W. Scott," on a shaped marble base. Height: 21" Width: 19 1/2" Depth: 8"
Condition
There is some rubbing and handling and the sword of Durward is slightly bent. There is an empty screw hole behind Durward so there may be an element missing, but it is difficult to tell what that might be from other photos. Possibly a later casting. No visible signature. Statements by Simpson Galleries regarding the condition of objects are for guidance only and should not be relied upon as statements of fact and do not constitute a representation, warranty, or assumption of liability by Simpson Galleries. All lots offered are sold "AS IS."
