PROVENANCE From the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation
The ensemble comes with two pipped wool garrison caps, a cotton short-bill tactical cap, two taupe wool ties, a pair of taupe wool socks, and a large army rucksack with a single strap, stamped "U.S." in bold black lettering.
In 1944, at the age of 18, Hefner enlisted in the U.S. Army as an infantry clerk. Although he never appeared on the front lines, Hefner's service included creating cartoon illustrations for Army newspapers such as Fort Pickett News.
