Black ink and sanguine chalk drawing on laid paper, portrait of a woman's head in profile, pencil signed (Edvard Munch*, 1863-1944). 6 7/8 x 5 1/8 inches. Very good condition overall, having no apparent damage or repairs. Sold unframed.

Provenance: Originally the property of a prominent California collector, now deceased. Thence by descent to the current owner. The consignor believes his family may have acquired this drawing and a number of other Edvard Munch drawings in Geneva (Switzerland), possibly from Habsburg, Feldman Inc., although the consignor can’t confirm this. [Preston Hall Gallery sold a partial sketchbook of Edvard Munch-ascribed watercolors from this same collection in July, 2016. That sketchbook had a Habsburg, Feldman auction house label affixed to its inside back cover.]
