Description
An authentic 50.50 lb. copper ingot slab from the wreck of the Atocha circa 1622. It is stamped A86209, 15 x 9 inches. The present example is part of a large cargo of 30,000lbs. of crude copper ingots was placed onboard the Atocha in 1622 for the return voyage to Spain. 582 copper ingots were loaded onboard the Atocha at Havana, Cuba, the Atocha's final stop before sailing toSpain, weighing an average of 54.2 lbs. The copper originated from the Cuban mine at Caridad del Cobre, owned by the Spanish crown. Accompanied by the certificate ofauthenticity from the Mel Fisher Artifacts recovery team. NOTE: the paperwork contains the accurate 86a206 ingot stamp andthe embossed original seal on the stock photo used by Mel Fisher. However; in classicstyle of their absence for quality control- when they stamped the bar the punch was upside down for the last number and the 6 appears as a 9 on the bar.
