A RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH BRONZE AUTOMATA CLOCK OF A WATERMILL

French, Charles X period circa 1830, in the Gothic Revival style in patinated and gilt bronze, modelled as a water mill on a rocky naturalistic base, the clock dial set in to the arched tower, with spires and walkways with ormolu rails, with an automaton movement set in the base of the clock and operated by a stop start lever on the left hand side and wound by a key, which operates the rotating waterwheel and the three glass rods set over silvered bronze "water" to gives the impression of a running mill stream over a river, the eight day, twin train clock movement with silk suspension and outside countwheel, striking on a bell, with pendulum,
