ARTIST BIO:
Jin Zhang 金章 (1884 - 1939) Courtesy name Taotao, also known as Ms. Nanlin, from Wuxing, Zhejiang. The third sister of Jincheng. When she was young, she is addicted to the Six Methods, and they can do everything from flowers to feathers, but they are especially good at fish and water plants. Since traveling to Europe to study, her painting has improved. In 1920, Jincheng and others founded the Chinese Painting Research Society in Beijing, and Zhang served as the instructor of fish painting. He wrote "Haoliang Zhilue Collection", a book dedicated to fish painting, with a preface by Xin You (1921). Later, his son Wang Shixiang Yiyou (1945) wrote in a postscript: "When Xianci was forty-five years old, he devoted himself to internal classics. He said that he was afraid of falling into the trap of fish, so he stopped writing." (Son Wang Shixiang, the father of Chinese furniture.)
