Nien Cheng 念鄭 or Zheng Nian 鄭念 (January 28, 1915 - November 2, 2009) was the pen name of Yao Nien-Yuan (姚念媛). She was a Chinese author known for recounting her experiences during the Cultural Revolution in her memoir Life and Death in Shanghai.
ARTIST BIO: Jin Zhang 金章 (1884 - 1939) Courtesy name Taotao, also known as Ms. Nanlin, from Wuxing, Zhejiang. The third sister of Jincheng. When she was young, she is addicted to the Six Methods, and they can do everything from flowers to feathers, but they are especially good at fish and water plants. Since traveling to Europe to study, her painting has improved. In 1920, Jincheng and others founded the Chinese Painting Research Society in Beijing, and Zhang served as the instructor of fish painting. He wrote "Haoliang Zhilue Collection", a book dedicated to fish painting, with a preface by Xin You (1921). Later, his son Wang Shixiang Yiyou (1945) wrote in a postscript: "When Xianci was forty-five years old, he devoted himself to internal classics. He said that he was afraid of falling into the trap of fish, so he stopped writing." (Son Wang Shixiang, the father of Chinese furniture.)
