"The Marvelous Land of Oz: Being an Account of the Further Adventures of the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman," commonly shortened to The Land of Oz, published in July 1904, is the second of L. Frank Baum's books set in the Land of Oz, and the sequel to The Wizard of Oz (1900). This and the next 34 Oz books of the famous 40 were illustrated by John R. Neill.

Book 2 of L. Frank Baum's immortal OZ series. Originally published 1904 by Reilly & Britton in Chicago, the title of the popular children’s novel by L. Frank Baum, The Marvelous Land of Oz, was shortened to The Land of Oz within the year. In The Land of Oz, an orphan boy named Tip lives under the guardianship of a wicked witch named Mombi. He intends to scare her with a pumpkin-headed wooden man he made when she returns home, but alas, she is not frightened and instead brings the wooden man Tip created to life with her newly bought Powder of Life. Later that night, Tip and the pumpkin-headed man named Jack Pumpkinhead escape with the Powder of Life, joined by a sawhorse Tip brought to life. They then proceed to partake in adventures throughout Oz, and Tip discovers the secret of his past.
