Aligheri Dante Divina Commedia The Divine Comedy, 3 volumes, Translated by Rev. Henry Boyd, Published London 1802 T. Cadell Jun. and W. Davies. 1st English translation, titled as 'Boyd's Dante,' 'with preliminary essays, notes and illustrations,' Full calf covers with gilt embellishments, titles on spine, dentelles, raised bands. Marbled end papers and edges. Illustrated frontis in vol. 1 (although it states 'illustrations' this is the one illustration found. Two name plates on pastedowns on all three volumes, the top plate of Edward Robeson Taylor, the mayor of San Francisco 1907-1910. The latin translates to 'Life without learning is death' and 'Labor and servitude' His autograph in pencil appears in vol. 1 on a flyleaf. From the Schlatter collection. 3lb
