Description
Rifle was made by makers in Guilford County North Carolina circa 1850s. Features a 38" octagon, 40 caliber rifled barrel. Barrel is nicely engraved at breech with floral pattern, unsigned. German silver blade front sight and rear notch sight. Unsigned percussion lock with gunsmith engraving, controlled by double set trigger. Curly maple half stock with German silver toeplate and nose cap with brass crescent butt plate. Stock has round German silver floral engraved patch box and eleven German silver inlays. Includes original ramrod. CALIBER: 40 Caliber. S/N: N/A. FFL STATUS: Antique.
Condition
Overall in original aged condition with light surface corrosion turning to a brown patina. No visible restoration or repairs. Dark bore with visible rifling. Hammer does not hold cock.
