A 14kt Rose Gold Karl Faberge Pin Owned by the House of Romanov Grand Duke Sergei Mikhailovich (1869-1918) of Russia. The Pin is marked KP and 56 and features a round wreath motif with a crown atop diamond studded monogram of the Duke, with a rope twist pin that measures 4". Includes Certificate of Appraisal & Authenticity from M & BG Antiques Sofia Bulgaria from 2020. About the Grand Duke Sergei Mikhailovich of Russia, first cousin of Alexander III of Russia, Sergei and his brothers Alexander and George Mikhailovich were constant companions of the future Tsar, Nicholas II. When Nicholas II, began his ascension to the throne and subsequent marriage, he broke off with his mistress, the famous ballerina Mathilde Kschessinska. Sergei Mikhailovich, was asked to take care of her. In 1894, Grand Duke Sergei, who was 25 years old, became Kschessinska's protector. He provided generously for his mistress. Kschessinska, who was ambitious, used her connections to the Romanovs to promote her career. Sergei became president of the Imperial Theatres Society and personally saw to her advancement in the ballet word at the Imperial Ballet.
