Pair of Chinese Ming Dynasty Xuande Blue and White Lishui Waves Porcelain Plum Lidded Vases. The porcelain potted into a traditional Meiping form, large, thick and tall potted, wide body on shoulder, slender neck easing to form narrow opening, flaring ring mouth rim, with dome lid flat, raised on round foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color, depicted of thrashing Lishui wavy waves covered the surface. The Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons and blue color stands for healing, trust and long life. Shades of blue are used to decorate homes for longevity and harmony.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years of Xuande Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
