French Provincial Carved Oak Bonnetiere, 19th c., Brittany, the flat stepped top over a highly carved frieze, above a setback single two panel door with spindled carving and a lower carving of a wind mill, atop a stepped plinth base on compressed bun feet, H.- 65 1/2 in., W.- 35 in., D.- 17 in.
Condition
Structurally sound. Retains a mellow finish, a few areas of light toning. Scattered shrinkages, some with separation. Minor losses to carved elements. Overall minor chips, nicks, marks, abrasions, and imperfections consistent with age and use, this is in one piece and does not break down, the key is present, the lock is inoperable and needs adjustment.
