East Asia, Japan, Edo Period, ca. 1603 to 1868 CE. A hand-carved wooden archery stand with a slightly curved body, a pronged base, a hinged collar with a slender arm protruding on either side, a pair of grooved bars on the top, and a lower base arm with two recessed slots used for holding the base of a bow. The overall design allowed an archer to transport a pair of bows as well as a slew of arrows with ease via the exterior iron handle, and a hinged arm could be leaned atop a short wall to support the stand when in use. Size: 5.1" W x 34.5" H (13 cm x 87.6 cm)

Condition
Loosening to side panel near handle and rivets of some iron pins. Minor nicks and abrasions to wood body and some iron components, darkening to some surfaces, and light encrustations on some iron components. Nice patina throughout.
