Late Roman/Byzantine, ca. 7th to 8th century CE. A pair of mold-made terracotta oil lamps of a later style, both with signs of use. One has a low relief cross design in its sunken discus; the other has the characteristic angled handle of this time period. The handle has a Chi Rho symbol in low relief on it. Size of largest: 3.95" L x 3" W x 1.45" H (10 cm x 7.6 cm x 3.7 cm)
Provenance: private East Coast collection, New York, USA; ex-East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010
