Presented for your consideration is a rare WWII Nazi German SS flag, trumpet banner that originated from the concentration camp Auschwitz. Crafted from black cotton, the front prominently displays SS runes, while the bottom is adorned with a white fringe.
HALLMARKS: Marked with tags, Auschwitz, RZM, 111 42 SS, SS Tottenkopfberbande.

AUSCHWITZ: Auschwitz concentration camp was a network of concentration and extermination camps built and operated by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland during World War II. It consisted of Auschwitz I (the original concentration camp), Auschwitz II-Birkenau (a combined concentration/extermination camp), Auschwitz III-Monowitz (a labor camp to staff an IG Farben factory), and 45 satellite camps. Auschwitz I was first constructed to hold Polish political prisoners, who began to arrive in May 1940. The first extermination of prisoners took place in September 1941.

HISTORY: The Waffen-SS was the armed wing of the Nazi Party's SS organisation. Its formations included men from Nazi Germany, along with volunteers and conscripts from both occupied and un-occupied lands. The Waffen-SS grew from three regiments to over 38 divisions during World War II, and served alongside the Heer (regular army), Ordnungspolizei (uniformed police) and other security units. Originally, it was under the control of the SS Fuhrungshauptamt (SS operational command office) beneath Reichsfuhrer-SS Heinrich Himmler. With the start of World War II, tactical control was exercised by the High Command of the Armed Forces (OKW), with some units being subordinated to Kommandostab Reichsfuhrer-SS (Command Staff Reichsfuhrer-SS) directly under Himmler's control.
