JEWISH SILVER and ENAMELED PAIR TORAH FINIALS, JUDAICA 1865
Russian Judaica: A pair of enameled reticulated silver Torah finials that open to reveal bessamim. They are slightly tarnished.
HALLMARKS: '84' for silver standard, 'PB' in Cyrillic for Pyotr Baskakov (Moscow, 1898-1908) and 'DO' in Cyrillic for Orlov Dmitry Ivanovich - please see the information below.
CONDITION: The item is in very good, used condition. For additional information, please refer to the pictures.
PROVENANCE: 1. From a long island, NY private collection, USA; 2. World Auction Gallery LLC, East Meadow, NY, USA, April 03, 2022 (the winner will receive this information).

WARRANTY: The buyer has 5 days to inspect items for originality, valued at up to $5,000, and 10 days for items valued at $5,000 or more. Items can be returned to the seller for a refund; please refer to the Terms for more details.

TORAH FINIALS: Torah finials or rimonim are silver or gold finials adorning the top ends of the rollers of a Sefer Torah (Torah scroll). Very often the rimonim are adorned with little bells and are very intricate. The regal crown indicates the majesty and power of the Torah. The Torah is monarch - a ruler, powerful, respected, revered, dressed in beautiful robes and adorned with precious ornaments.

Dmitry ORLOV: Orlov Dmitry Ivanovich worked in Moscow in the gold and silver factory. Its production was founded in 1840 and in a short time it gained all-Russian significance. At the manufacturing exhibition in 1865 in Moscow, its owner was awarded a large silver medal, in 1860 had 35 workers and 10 students, in 1865 workers and students 160 people, annually producing products worth up to 200,000 rubles of silver (1840-1872).
