Description
French Gilt Ormolu Mounted Ebonized Pedestal, early 20th c., the inset square top over inset pierced bronze scrolled panels, over tapered sides with applied ormolu musical instruments, flanked by canted edges with bellflower and masque mounts, to a conforming stepped base on block feet, H.- 46 1/4 in., W.- 20 in., D.- 20 in. Provenance: The Durand Estate, Plaquemine (Iberville Parish), Louisiana.
Condition
The thin wire inlay on the bottom and on the left side is pulled with some breaks/losses. There is a small surface loss to the bottom center of the apron. All sides of the pedestal have a few thin shrinkage cracks. There is a small repair to the back right foot. The mounts and the top are intact. Widest point on the top is 14 1/8 in., the square -form surface is 13 1/2 in. Structurally sound and in overall good condition.
