In Spanish. 21.5x16 cm (8½x6¼").Report of an 1868 voyage from Macau, China to Havana, Cuba carrying 300 Chinese laborers, various cargo including opium, on a French "Tamani". The voyage lasted 133 days, during which 176 died, largely of opium overdose and dysentery. Rare detailed account of early Chinese immigration to Cuba. The longer document contains much of interest regarding the early part of the journey, discussing issues at the port of Padang (Sumatra) including a fever and encounter with a warship, as well as further discussion of the opium abuse problem on the ship. The longer document has two sections, the second is incomplete.

Toning, old folds, acidic ink, causing at least one hole; still overall intact and very good.
